I Samuel 28-29
"When Saul saw the camp of the Philistines, he was afraid and his heart trembled greatly" (28:5). Fear is a natural reaction when faced with a fierce enemy, but Saul was the King of Israel. He had seen David kill Goliath with only a stone, and he knew as well as anyone how powerful God was. Yet, he lacked the kind of faith that becomes action. He sought guidance, but when God didn't answer, Saul turned to a medium/witch.
Our faith is tested when we feel overwhelmed: is our hope in ourselves, or in God?
