November 15: Hosea 1-3

Hosea 1-3

“I will betroth you to Me in righteousness and in justice, in lovingkindness and in compassion” (2:19).  In one of the Bible’s strangest episodes, God told the prophet Hosea to marry a prostitute (ch 1-3).  Through Hosea’s faithful love to this woman, God demonstrated His unending love to His disloyal, disobedient people.  God declared that His love does not depend on our perfection; He knows the worst that we have done, and He still loves us.

Our own sin separates us from the One who loves us.  Through Hosea’s story, God proclaimed His desire to bring us back and make us part of His family again.
