Ezekiel 15-20
“Cast away from you all your transgressions which you have committed, and make yourselves a new heart and a new spirit!” (18:31). Israel had become more concerned with reputation than righteousness. The ways of the world had confused their sense of right and wrong. They thought that children should be punished because of their parents’ sin, and visa versa (18:4-20). They thought that a righteous man was forever safe, even if he rejected God in old age (18:24).
God does not judge us by family name or our reputation in the community. He sees and cares about the condition of our hearts.
