I Kings 22
“I saw all Israel scattered on the mountains, as sheep that have no shepherd” (22:17). Micaiah’s words had the ring of truth. Israel was a flock of sheep with no shepherd, because their king rejected God’s ways. King Ahab hated the prophet Micaiah for being God’s messenger, and he tried to avoid God’s word (v30). Micaiah said that King Ahab would die in battle, and “If you indeed return safely, the Lord has not spoken by me” (v28).
Micaiah risked his life in order to declare God’s word. He had seen “the Lord sitting on his throne” (v19), and he knew who was really King.
