November 21: II Samuel 5-6

II Samuel 5-6

"How the king of Israel distinguished himself today!" (6:20). Bringing the ark to Jerusalem was explosive. Uzzah died "for his irreverence," and then Michal reacted badly to David's celebration. The ark symbolized God's presence, His blessing on David, and His special ownership of Israel. David recognized the holy moment and danced before God. Michal, bitter already, yanked from husband to husband (3:15), saw only disgrace. She could not worship.

Bitterness, disappointment, jealousy - these feelings can make worship a struggle. But only in worship can we see the truth: God's greatness and kindness are more than enough to heal us.
