November 21: Psalm 61

Psalm 61

“For You have been a refuge for me; a tower of strength against the enemy” (v3).  The psalmist felt faint-hearted, alone at “the ends of the earth” (v2).  But he remembered that God had been his refuge in the past, and so he asked again, “lead me to the rock that is higher than I” (v2).  In addition to his own experiences, the psalmist welcomed “the inheritance of those who fear your name” (v5) – the lessons learned by Abraham, Joshua, Ruth and others.

We can still take refuge in the shelter of God’s wings (v4), where there is real security, comfort, and strength.
