Daniel 9-12
“O Lord, hear! O Lord, forgive! O Lord, listen and take action!” (9:19). Exiled in Babylon, Daniel did not forget the power of the God of Abraham. Though favored by foreign kings, Daniel remained loyal to his people and to God. Daniel believed Jeremiah’s prophecy (9:2) about a 70 year captivity, so he boldly asked for mercy for Israel. God responded by sending visions of the future, promising to preserve His people through it all.
God reassured Daniel that though kings and nations would rise and fall, “those who lead the many to righteousness [will shine] like the stars forever and ever” (12:3).
