November 25: Hosea 6-10

Hosea 6-10

“Sow with a view to righteousness, reap in accordance with kindness …” (10:12). Hosea said that the people of Israel and Judah “sow the wind, and they reap the whirlwind” (v7). Their years of covenant-breaking produced the fruit of destruction. They had continued the outward forms of ritual sacrifice (6:6), but they also practiced lying, adultery, violence, and idolatry. They used God’s blessings to establish their independence (10:1-2).

Sin has far-reaching consequences, but so does righteousness. When we deliberately set our hearts on God, our lives become “full of mercy and good fruits” (James 1:3).
