II Kings 7-9
“Behold, if the Lord should make windows in heaven, could this thing be?” (7:2). Despite the fact that Elisha was a well-known prophet of God, the Samaritan captain didn’t believe his prophecy that “tomorrow” the hungry, besieged citizens of Samaria would be flooded with food. So God chose four lepers to experience the miracle and tell others (v9). Like the blind, lame, and poor in Jesus’ time, these outcasts joyfully accepted the good things God offered.
God didn’t need the Samaritans to fight or sacrifice or beg. He only wanted them to believe that He could indeed open “the windows of heaven.”
