Psalm 63
“My soul thirsts for Thee … in a dry and weary land where there is no water” (v1). The world offers us many ways to satisfy our thirsty souls: romance and marriage, children, work, and constant entertainment. But none of those things can satisfy our primary hunger, which is to know and be known by God. “Thus I have beheld Thee in the sanctuary … because Thy lovingkindness is better than life” (v2-3). The psalmist knew that only with God “my soul is satisfied” (v5).
“In the shadow of Thy wings I sing for joy” (v7). There is no substitute for knowing our Creator.
