November 3: Daniel 5-9

Daniel 5-9

“That to Him was given dominion, glory and a kingdom, that all the peoples, nations, and men of every language might serve Him” (7:14).  The book of Daniel records the faithfulness of individuals, like Daniel and his friends, but also visions about God’s great plan for the world.  Empires come and go (and great leaders like Nebuchadnezzar fall), but God remains in charge.  God’s supremacy was confirmed even by pagans: “He is the living God and enduring forever” (6:26).

Like the choice to be faithful in exile, our small acts of faithfulness are worthwhile.  We are part of the bigger story of God’s redemption of “all the peoples.”
