Ezekiel 21-28
“When I gather the house of Israel ... they will live in their land … they will build houses, plant vineyards, and live securely” (28:25-26). After ten chapters of Israel’s sins, these words blaze with mercy. The two parts of Israel (Samaria and Judah) behaved like prostitutes. Having been “married” or covenanted to the Holy God, chosen and nurtured by Him, they rejected Him and chased after idols. Terrible consequences followed, but God promised a better future.
Israel engaged in idolatry, promiscuity, oppression, and human sacrifice; but no matter how terribly humans sin, God’s grace is available to all who seek Him.
