Psalm 63
"When I remember Thee on my bed, I meditate on Thee in the night watches, for Thou hast been my help ..." (v6-7). The psalmist knew the sweetness of remembering God's help in the past. During danger, fear, disappointment and failure, he hid himself in God: "in the shadow of Thy wings I sing for joy" (v7). The land around him was still "dry and weary" (v1), still full of problems and darkness, but God's "lovingkindness" proved better than life itself.
Fear and doubt can attack us in the middle of the night. The best defense is meditating on God's kindness.
