Psalm 131
“Surely I have composed and quieted my soul” (v2). For the psalmist, peace came from accepting his own limited understanding and lack of control. He had given up trying to be his own god; he left “great matters” and “things too difficult for me” in the hands of the Creator. He didn’t need immediate attention like a nursing baby. He had learned to trust, like a weaned child resting against mother, knowing God was in control and would eventually make all things right.
“O Israel, hope in the Lord” (v3). We can “quiet our souls,” knowing the Father holds all things in His hands.
