Psalm 59 

“But Thou, O Lord, dost laugh at them; Thou dost scoff at all the nations” (v8).  When terrible things happen in the world, whether violence inside families or violence inside nations, we wonder where God is.  The psalmist saw evil men wandering around cities, inflicting damage and boasting, “Who hears?” (v7).  The answer:  God hears and sees, and He is preparing “the day of judgment and destruction of ungodly men” (2 Peter 3:7). 

God will ultimately judge His enemies, but meanwhile He is patient with the earth: “not wishing for any to perish but for all to come to repentance” (2 Peter 3:9).
