Acts 1
“To these He also presented Himself alive, after His suffering, by many convincing proofs…” (v3). The disciples were convinced that Jesus was alive, but they still were uncertain about His mission. He was King of life and death, so they wondered, “is it at this time You are restoring the kingdom to Israel?” (v6). But Jesus had bigger plans (v8). The good news was going to be preached “to the remotest part of the earth” (v8).
The disciples longed to see peace and freedom restored to Israel. Jesus’ mission (accomplished through them) was far greater: to bring peace and freedom to every nation on earth.
