November 8: Hebrews 9-10

Hebrews 9-10

“…How much more will the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered Himself without blemish to God, cleanse your conscience from dead works to serve the living God?” (9:14).  The Old Testament system of rituals was symbolic, a “shadow” of spiritual reality (9:8-10; 10:1): God is holy, and sinful humans cannot approach Him.  But “at the consummation of the ages,” Jesus the Son offered Himself, once and for all, as a real sacrifice for us.

Jesus came to save us from sin and death, and to cleanse our guilty consciences (v14).  In Him we are forgiven, holy, and welcomed into God’s presence (10:19-23).
