Acts 2:1-40

“Therefore let all the house of Israel know for certain that God has made Him both Lord and Christ” (2:36).  Jesus said that the Spirit’s power would enable the disciples to be His witnesses (1:8).  The message they declared was “Jesus is Lord!”  Jesus was a great teacher and healer (v22), but His resurrection proved that He is more: He is Lord of life and death.  The Spirit’s outpouring in different languages showed that this good news is for everyone (v38-39).

Jesus’ resurrection proclaimed that Life is stronger than death. The Spirit’s outpouring proclaimed that Life is available to everyone who calls on Jesus’ name (38).
