Ezekiel 29-32
“Whom are you like in your greatness?” (31:1). Ezekiel prophesied that God would destroy the might of the Egyptian empire (through the rising power of Babylon). Egypt, like the powers of our own time, seemed invincible. It seemed too big and civilized to fail. However, despite Egypt’s long and rich history, its time of power was over. Israel was judged guilty for rejecting the God of the covenant and leaning on Egypt instead; now Egypt itself would be permanently humbled.
Every kingdom, institution, and security on earth can be shaken. God alone is our permanent refuge, our eternal source of help.
