Hebrews 11
“All these died in faith, without receiving the promises, but having seen them and welcomed them from a distance” (v13). Faith is the “conviction of things not seen;” the confidence that there is more to the world that what we see with our eyes. People of faith like Noah, Abraham, and David only received small parts of what God had promised (v39). But by faith they knew that God was at work, and they desired that better country He was preparing for them (v14-16).
Whether conquering kingdoms or experiencing chains and imprisonment (v33-36), people of faith keep their eyes on the “better country” that God has promised.
