October 10: Ezekiel 18-19

Ezekiel 18-19

“All souls are Mine” (18:4).  While many cultures view children as an extension of their parents, God told Ezekiel that He does not see us that way.  We may suffer because of generational problems, but we are only guilty for what we do (18:20).  We can neither take credit for our child’s success nor make excuses for ourselves based on our parents’ mistakes.  Further, God doesn’t regard our past, good or bad (v21-24), but only our present.

God proclaimed both freedom and responsibility through Ezekiel.  We each have a chance to accept His mercy, and our own choices matter.
