John 11:38-57

"...but that He might also gather together into one the children of God who are scattered abroad" (v53). John tells us that Caiaphus, high priest and completely anti-Jesus, prophesied that Jesus was going to die for "the nation." Rather than being accepted by all and crowned King, Jesus was going to die, accepted by a few. Rising again, His power over sin and death would extend to all - even those "scattered abroad."

God's love extends farther than we expect or deserve. Jew and Gentile, male and female, rich and poor, Jesus gathers us together into His Body.
