John 13

“Jesus, knowing … that He had come from God, and was going back to God … began to wash the disciples’ feet” (v3-5).  If Jesus had only been “Teacher and Lord” (v13) on earth, then He would have fought for the honor He deserved.  But Jesus carried with Him the values of another Kingdom, because He is both the way into God’s holy presence and a model of how to live there.  So He told His disciples to “wash one another’s feet” (v14).

If we are children of a different Kingdom, we are free to serve and love like Jesus did.
