October 12: Psalm 125

Psalm 125

“Those who trust in the Lord are as Mount Zion, which cannot be moved, but abides forever” (v1). Mount Zion is more than Jerusalem; it is the symbol of the eternal community of faith. God surrounds His people like “the mountains surround Jerusalem” (v2), protecting, caring, reliable and faithful. We are not controlled by “a scepter of wickedness” (v3); Satan has no power against God’s children. The apostle Paul was shipwrecked, beaten, and imprisoned, but he preached about Jesus in Rome as God intended.

We “cannot be moved;” we are secure in God’s hand, and His purposes for us will not fail.
