II Samuel 8-11
“Be strong, and let us show ourselves courageous for the sake of our people … and may the Lord do what is good in His sight” (10:12). These words sound like David’s, but this time they belonged to Joab, commander of the army. Little by little, David let others fight, while he stayed in Jerusalem (11:1). He wasn’t following God into battle, but instead considering his own pleasure. The result was the triple tragedy of adultery, murder, and the death of a child (ch 11-12).
A great story of faith isn’t enough. God calls us to know Him, love Him, and follow Him today.
