October 14: John 12:27-50

John 12:27-50

"Now my soul has become troubled; and what shall I say, ‘Father, save Me from this hour?' But for this purpose I came to this hour" (v27). Here we glimpse Jesus, struggling with the weight of the pain in store for him. His Father reassured Him with "a voice out of heaven," promising to glorify His name. The end of the suffering would be glorious. However, Jesus knew He had to live through the darkness.

Paul said, "We were burdened excessively, beyond our strength" (II Cor 1:8), but they put their hope in "God who raises the dead" (v9).
