October 15: Hebrews 3-4

Hebrews 3-4

“There remains therefore a Sabbath rest for the people of God” (4:9). This “rest” means living within the secure peace of God’s Kingdom, now and through eternity. Old Testament saints like Abraham became God’s friends the same way we do – through faith. And the rebellious Israelites in the wilderness “were not able to enter because of unbelief” (3:19). We are urged not to let our hearts grow hard and cynical (3:12), but instead “draw near with confidence to the throne of grace” (4:16).

Jesus has paid for our sins and given us His righteousness; we enter His kingdom by faith in these gifts.
