Jeremiah 36-42
“The king cut it with a scribe’s knife and threw it into the fire … until all the scroll was consumed in the brazier” (36:23). Jeremiah had prophesied that Babylon (the Chaldeans) were going to destroy Judah due to their sinful rejection of God. Jeremiah’s words, written on a scroll, were read to the king. He didn’t like what he heard and burnt the scroll. But God’s Word didn’t change; the Babylonians came and conquered Jerusalem (ch 39) exactly as Jeremiah had warned.
Unbelief, anger, and denial cannot change God’s plans. He is “the beginning and the end,” and we can trust His Word.
