Psalm 126
“When the Lord brought back the captive ones of Zion, we were like those who dream” (v1). God promised that the Babylonian exile would not be the end of the story. Seventy years later, prophecy was fulfilled, and the Jews returned to their homeland and rebuilt their Temple. During their years in Babylon, they had kept the dream of home alive: Jerusalem, the beautiful, peaceful city where God dwelled among them.
Many people carry in their hearts a dream of a better life – a peaceful, joyful, permanent home. God alone can satisfy this desire; He is our true home, now and forever.
