October 19: Ezekiel 31-35

Ezekiel 31-35

“I will seek the lost, bring back the scattered, bind up the broken and strengthen the sick; but the fat and the strong I will destroy” (34:16).  After the warnings against ungodly nations, God reminded Ezekiel that His desire is for men and women to repent and receive mercy.  “I have no pleasure in the death of the wicked” (33:11).  Because He desires mercy, God (unlike the selfish shepherds, ch 34) seeks out lost sheep.  He is the Good Shepherd who gives His own life to bring us home.

God doesn’t hide from us.  He actively seeks us out, heals our wounds, and provides “rich pasture” (34:14).
