October 19: Psalm 55

Psalm 55

"He will redeem my soul in peace from the battle which is against me" (v18). Sometimes it's obvious that we are in a battle; an old friend turns against us (v13), or the "stormy wind and tempest" of illness or grief rages around us. But at other times, the battle is more subtle, and we don't recognize our anxiety and fear (3-5) as being from the enemy. We need a "place of refuge" (v8).

"Cast your burden before the Lord ..." (v22). Whatever our fears, evening, morning, and at noon (v17), He will sustain us.
