October 2: Psalm 121

Psalm 121

“I will lift up my eyes to the mountains; from whence shall my help come?” (v1).  This is one of our most persistent, universal human questions: How can I be secure?  Where can I find safety in an unpredictable, difficult, dangerous world?  The psalmist knew that his own resources weren’t sufficient, especially against the enemy of our souls.  But the One who made heaven and earth “will protect you from all evil; He will keep your soul” (v7).  We still have to walk through trouble, but we are never alone.

We are held securely by Christ, and “in Him all things hold together” (Col 1).
