Hebrews 9
“But when Christ appeared as a high priest of the good things to come, He entered through the greater and more perfect tabernacle … through His own blood” (v11-12). Hebrews tells us why animal sacrifices are no longer needed. The Temple of stone was “a copy and shadow of the heavenly things to come” (8:5). Rituals “cannot make the worshiper perfect in conscience” (9:9); only Jesus can do that. He is “the mediator of a new covenant” (v15), prophesied by Jeremiah (ch 31).
We all, Jew and Gentile alike, receive “the good things to come” on the basis of Jesus’ perfect sacrifice.
