October 23: Psalm 127-128

Psalm 127-128

“When you shall eat of the fruit of your hands, you will be happy and it will be well with you” (v2).  Even in our sin-filled world, there is still joy in being productive.   We were created in God’s image, and like our Creator we find satisfaction in relationships, work, art and music (127:3; 128:3).  Problems arise when we reject our status as God’s children and try to be gods ourselves.  Then our labor is poisoned by selfishness, and even our families become sources of pain.

“Unless the Lord builds the house …” (127:1).  When God “builds the house” with us, all our efforts have meaning and purpose.
