1 Samuel 12:24
"Only fear the Lord and serve Him in truth with all your heart; for consider what great things He has done for you" (12:24). Israel refused God's authority and asked for a king. God gave them Saul, while warning them about the cost of kings. Now Samuel, ready to die, reassured Israel that God still intended them to be "a people for Himself" (v22). God was not giving up on them, despite their sins.
God, in His mercy, reaches out to sinful people in love. Whatever we have done, we can still respond in faith and "serve Him in truth."
