Hebrews 1
“And He is the radiance of [God’s] glory and the exact representation of His nature” (v3). The Jews and Gentiles of ancient Rome wanted to fit Jesus into their already-established ways of thinking. He could fit comfortably as a prophet, good teacher, or even a miracle-worker. But the author of Hebrews insisted that Jesus is God’s Son, the One through whom the world was created (v2). No culture or worldview owns Jesus Christ; time, space and matter are sustained “by the word of His power.”
Prophets and self-help teachers tell us how to improve our lives. But only the Son of God can save us (v3).
