Ezekiel 7-14
“And behold, at the entrance to the temple of the Lord … they were prostrating themselves eastward toward the sun” (8:16). In visions, God showed Ezekiel the hidden sin of the leaders of Israel. They were worshipping idols in secret rooms (v7-13), and they were bowing before the sun. They had no love or respect for the One who had given them a home, a covenant, and miraculous protection. They instead pleased themselves and imitated the pagan nations around them.
Because of sin, the people of Israel lost the gifts of God. However, God used their captivity and sorrow to bring about repentance (11:18-20).
