October 27: II Samuel 22-24

II Samuel 22-24

“He rescued me, because He delighted in me” (22:20).  One of David’s most well-known songs (also Psalm 18), these verses marvel at God’s passionate love for His people.  From experience, the psalmist declares that God does not stay in heaven, watching us struggle with sin and the long-reaching effects of the curse.  Instead, God comes to our rescue.  “He bowed the heavens also, and came down … and He rode on a cherub and flew … He drew me out of many waters” (v11-17).

God delights in us.  He does not abandon us to the slavery of sin, but delivers us from “our strong enemy” (v18).
