October 30: Psalm 57

Psalm 57

“And in the shadow of Thy wings I will take refuge, until destruction passes by” (v1).  Far from telling us to stand on our own two feet, God invites us to seek safety, peace, and comfort in Him.  However, we must first admit, like the psalmist, that “my soul is among lions” (v4) – we desperately need the Father’s help.   Our example is Ruth, the destitute foreign widow, who didn’t let pride prevent her from finding shelter under the wings of Israel’s God. (Ruth 2:12).

As we remain secure in the Father’s presence, His lovingkindness and truth (v3) work to bring about His purposes in our lives.
