Proverbs 30

“Every word of God is tested; He is a shield to those who take refuge in Him” (v5). Our world is mysterious, wonderful, and tragic (v18-31). The beauty of God’s creation fills us with delight – ants and eagles, oceans and lions - but sadness is always around the corner (barren wombs, family conflicts, v16-17). The author knew that in such an unpredictable world, both pride and despair are strong temptations (v9), and our only sure rock and shield is God Himself.

God’s love and power has already been tested in this world. He is our refuge in our joys, sorrows, and temptations.
