October 4: Ezekiel 6-11

Ezekiel 6-11

“And I shall give them one heart, and shall put a new spirit within them” (11:19).  Ezekiel comforted the Jewish exiles in Babylon with these words, declaring that God had a special future for them.  It wasn’t only about returning to the land of Israel; God wanted to deal with their “hearts of stone” (v19).  When God showed Ezekiel the people worshipping idols in Jerusalem and determined to punish them (ch 9), He protected those who hearts grieved over sin (9:4).

God’s desire was and is to claim our hearts, so that “they will be My people, and I shall be their God” (11:20).
