John 12
“While you have the light, believe in the light, that you may become sons of the light” (v36). John’s universal themes of light and darkness (1:9) help us understand Jesus. Jesus is the Light of the world (12:46), and we are either drawn toward Him or choose to embrace the darkness of sin. Jesus came to “illumine our darkness” (Psalm 18), knowing we were full of selfishness, anger, and pride, giving us the chance to become “children of the light.”
We do not have to “remain in darkness” (v46). Even in this life, we can experience the peace, hope, and joy of the Kingdom of Light.
