October 7: II Thessalonians 1

II Thessalonians 1

“To this end also we pray for you always that our God may count you worthy of His calling and fulfill every desire for goodness and the work of faith with power” (v11).  Paul’s desire for the Thessalonian believers was that they would fulfill God’s call on their lives, which is the same call all believers share: “that the name of the Lord Jesus may be glorified in you” (v12).  All other goals are sub-categories of this purpose.

Paul prayed that God would see their imperfect efforts, their “desire for goodness” and their “work of faith,” and by His power make them something glorious for Christ.
