Ruth 2-4
"Blessed be the Lord who has not left you without a redeemer today" (4:14). When Ruth refused to abandon Naomi, a small light began to shine in Israel's darkness. One loving, righteous act led to others. Ruth gleaned in the field of Naomi's relative Boaz, who (in a lawless time) followed the ancient Law of allowing the poor to pick up leftover wheat after the reapers. Boaz had heard about Ruth, and kindness followed kindness. Finally, Naomi got her heart's desire - a grandson.
Choice by choice, the kingdom of God shone brightly in Bethlehem, hinting at the Redeemer to come.
