Isaiah 30-31
“Woe to the rebellious children … who seek shelter in the shadow of Egypt!” (30:1-2). The Assyrian empire was huge and menacing in Isaiah’s time. God had promised Israel that if they trusted Him, He would keep them safe. However, in their fear, they made alliances with pagan nations like Egypt. Seeking protection from Egypt declared to all the world that Israel did not trust their God. And it was pointless, because Egypt’s help was “vain and empty” (v7).
“In quietness and trust is your strength” (v15). God calls us to demonstrate our faith by resting in His love and power.
