September 12: Psalm 118

Psalm 118

“The Lord is for me; I will not fear; what can man do to me?” (v6).  The psalmist trusted in the absolute power of God over the whole universe.  No matter what weapon came against him, God was greater.  “You pushed me violently so that I was falling, but the Lord helped me” (v13).  Yet the strength of God is different than the world’s power, where bigger is always better.  He often chooses the weak and the humble – “the stone which the builders rejected” (v22) - to show His glory.

We can trust that God is on our side to rescue and redeem, and not to destroy us.
