September 15: Isaiah 37-39

Isaiah 37-39

“Thou hast made heaven and earth. Incline Thine ear, O Lord, and hear; open Thine eyes, O Lord, and see …” (37:17). The mighty Assyrian empire was threatening Judah. General Rabshakeh shouted threats to the guards on Jerusalem’s wall, mocking their resistance. “Has any one of the gods of the nations delivered his land from … the king of Assyria?” (36:18). Why should Judah’s god be any different? In response, King Hezekiah beseeched “the living God” to show Himself.

By faith, King Hezekiah defied the Assyrian empire, trusting that the God of Abraham was real, and His promises were true.
