John 4

"Woman, believe Me, an hour is coming when neither in this mountain, nor in Jerusalem, shall you worship the Father ... God is spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and in truth" (4:24).  Jesus' friends "marveled" that He had been speaking to a woman, breaking cultural taboos.  Jesus also, amazingly, removed the worship of God from a particular holy place, making Him available to all who were thirsty. 

The Samaritan woman was thirsty.  Wrong gender, wrong culture, wrong lifestyle - but she wanted the Living Water Jesus offered, and she received it.
