Jeremiah 47-49
“Yet I will restore the fortunes of Moab in the latter days” (48:47). Jeremiah prophesied not only against Egypt, but against Gaza, Moab, Ammon and others (ch 49). But just as God promised to have mercy on Israel when they repented (46:28), He also promised mercy to the other nations (49:6, 39). God’s plan was not to totally wipe out every rebellious group, but to discipline and warn, in the hopes that some would listen.
No individual or nation is outside the reach of God’s love. Jesus “came and preached peace to you who were far away, and peace to those who were near” (Eph 2:17).
