John 5:19-47
"For the Father loves the Son, and shows Him all things that He Himself is doing..." (v20). Jesus' description of His relationship with the Father not only shocked His hearers, it still surprises us today. Many definitions of the Trinity leave out the most important point, which is that within the Godhead, there is love. The Father loves the Son. Eternally, the Father, Son and Spirit exist and act in perfect unity through love.
We are urged to "preserve the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace" (Eph 4:3), reflecting our Father by our love for one another.
